Take a family history A$75.00 The first step in any genetic consultation is taking a family history. A family tree acts as a quick visual tool to assess any underlying genetic conditions. This module will teach you the techniques and symbols used to record a family tree.

Introductory Genetics A$75.00 In user-friendly terms, Introductory Genetics will give you an understanding of the most relevant areas of genetics in health. It explains the structure of DNA and chromosomes, how they are inherited and the mechanisms behind chromosomal abnormalities and genetic mutation.

Preconception Counselling A$75.00 Preconception genetic counselling is a rapidly evolving area.  With every pregnancy there is a 2-3% risk of congenital abnormality. With preconception care, studies have shown a significant reduction in the incidence of adverse outcomes. Preconception genetics offers couples a range of new reproductive decisions that have the ability to change and influence the health of their baby.

Prenatal Diagnosis A$75.00 Prenatal diagnosis is constantly progressing as technology and research bring to light new findings and techniques. Information gained during a pregnancy can be invaluable in helping parents prepare for the future. This module discusses the advances and limitations of currently available testing options.

Psychological Impact of Genetic Infertility A$75.00 Compared to the general population, infertile couples are at an increased risk for genetic disorders that may not only affect themselves, but their fertility treatment options and future children. Genetic infertility brings with it a unique set of psychological challenges and dilemmas. This unit will discuss the impact of genetic infertility on couples.
